Authors Fight Alzheimer’s Book Signing Fundraiser

AUTHORS FIGHT ALZHEIMER’S

BOOK SIGNING FUNDRAISER

I’m organizing a book signing fundraiser for the end of January is in honour of Alzheimer’s Awareness Month. My interest in supporting Alzheimer’s research stems from years of caring for two parents with Alzheimer’s disease.

The fundraiser is a book-signing event Authors Fight Alzheimer’s and is taking place on the evening of Monday January 30th. This event is to include participating Canadian authors and publishers in conjunction with the Alzheimer’s Society of York Region.

The purpose of the event is to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society through donations at the door and sales of signed books made available by authors and their publisher (the profit normally going to a bookstore would go to the cause and the authors/publishers would be reimbursed for their costs). The theme is Read…Think…Remember to promote keeping the mind active through reading, an important defense against the disease.

So far I have thirteen authors committed, but I’m hoping for up to twenty. From MuseItUp Publishing, I will be signing my recently released Sci Fi Thriller, Spectra, along with Muse authors Sandra Clarke, Kevin Craig, Nancy Bell, and Helene Prevost. From Double Dragon Publishing, Deron Douglas and Anne Grobbo will be attending. Deron will be signing a commemorative coffee table book he is publishing specifically for the event, as well as showcasing and selling a number of other books from his publishing house. Two-time Aurora Award winner, Doug Smith, from Chizine along with Caitlin Sweet are attending. Science Fiction writers J.M. Frey, Eric Buchanan and Karen Dales are attending. The event is currently being pitched to members of the Crime Writers of Canada (Melodie Campbell has confirmed attendance).

The event is to take place on January 30th between 6:30 and 9:00 pm at the North York Central Library, 5120 Yonge Street (between Sheppard and Finch on the West side). The auditorium holds 200 people.

Thanks to the corporate sponsors for this event:

Borden, Ladner, Gervais LLP, MuseItUp Publishing, Sunrise of Aurora, Edward Street Grill.
